Richard and Cara help a small group of villagers escape ruthless slave traders, killing the aggressors in the process. She and Richard set out to rescue the teenager from evil forces and prevent her from accidentally unleashing the power she possesses. While Zedd and Cara follow a lead in tracking down the Stone of Tears, Kahlan learns of a mysterious girl who proves to be the only other living Confessor. With Cara’s fate now completely in Kahlan’s hands, the Confessor must make a life-or-death decision. But upon Cara’s return to her hometown village, local townspeople put the Mord’Sith on trial for the horrific crimes she’s committed in the past. Richard sends Cara away to escape the wrath of Kahlan when it’s revealed that the Mord'Sith is responsible for the death of someone very close to the Confessor. But soon after arriving, the Seeker discovers the one person who holds the key to locating the Stone has struck a deadly deal with the Keeper. The quest for the Stone of Tears brings Richard, Kahlan, Zedd and Cara to a D'Haran prison where the dead return from the underworld to prey on the living.

As Richard, Kahlan and Zedd prepare for a quest to find the Stone of Tears, the only force that can close the rift, Triana, a defiant Mord'Sith, challenges Cara's authority. The story depicted in the television series substantially differs from that as portrayed in the written series.In the riveting second season premiere, Richard discovers that in defeating the sinister tyrant Darken Rahl, victory is short-lived when he inadvertently opens a rift to the underworld, unleashing an even greater evil on the world of the living. The series follows the journeys of long awaited Seeker named Richard Cypher, a Confessor named Kahlan Amnell, a wizard named Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander, and a warrior named Cara as they defend against tyranny and destruction.

The show premiered on Novemand ran for two seasons before its cancellation in 2010. by Disney-ABC Domestic Television, ABC Studios produced the series, which was its first foray into broadcast syndication, with Sam Raimi, Robert Tapert, Joshua Donen, Ned Nalle, and Kenneth Biller serving as executive producers. Legend of the Seeker is a television series based on novels in the series titled The Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind.
